A Fuzzy Optimization Model for the Berth Allocation Problem and Quay Crane Allocation Problem (BAP + QCAP) with n Quays

This work introduces a fuzzy optimization model, which solves in an integrated way the berth allocation problem (BAP) and quay crane (QCAP). The is solved for multiple quays, considering vessels’ imprecise arrival times. model optimizes use of quays. BAP + QCAP, NP-hard (Non-deterministic polynomial-time hardness) combinatorial problem, where decision to assign available quays each vessel adds more complexity. times variables—berth departure times—are represented by triangular numbers. obtains robust berthing plan that supports early late arrivals also assigns cranes vessel. was implemented CPLEX solver (IBM ILOG Optimization Studio); obtaining short time optimal solution very small instances. For medium instances, undefined behavior found, (optimal or not) may be found. large no solutions were found during assigned processing (60 min). Although applied n = 2 it can adapted “n” must with metaheuristics.
